Home of the oldest Baptist church west of the Rockies, it also lays claim to the oldest cemetery in the state. It also had the first school district in the county, before it merged first with the North Plains district and later into the new Hillsboro School District in 1996. The old school district had also absorbed the Orenco school district. Anyway, the community is still partly unincorporated, but Hillsboro has annexed large portions, with other parts of the original community turned into housing in Rock Creek. To the east is Rock Creek and Oak Hills before one gets to Bethany, while you can go north on Cornelius Pass to Scappoose and the rest of Columbia County.
