Beaverton

Washington County’s second most populous city straddles Canyon Road/TV Highway (aka Oregon Route 8) wast of Portland. This road has quite a few of the most dangerous intersections in the state, including at SW 110th Avenue in Beaverton, which comes in at No. 45. Of course, if you drive down 217, you know there are numerous accidents on it as well, but those are not intersections.

As Beaverton approaches 100,000 residents, you might not know that Nike is not one of them. Their main campus is in unincorporated Washington County. Beaverton tried to annex them, along with plans for annexing places such as Cedar Mill and Bethany, but was thwarted by the legislature as to Nike. Companies that are located in the city include Shari’s Restaurants, Tektronix, Reser’s Fine Food, and Digimarc, to name a few. Interestingly, Beaverton Foods is not one of those, as they moved to Hillsboro.
